ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENTS
Vertical bands in the neck can become more noticeable when you move, speak or look in the mirror from certain angles. If they’re bothering you, we can help you understand whether you’re seeing muscle bands, changes in the skin or a combination of both.
ABOUT THIS TREATMENT
Neck bands are often associated with the platysma, a muscle across the neck. Treatment options depend on what is creating the appearance you’ve noticed, so we’ll look at your neck both at rest and in movement, but most commonly we will use our anti-wrinkle treatment.
Skin laxity and fine creases can appear in the same area, but they aren’t the same as muscle bands. We’ll separate those concerns when we explain what may be worth considering.
WHAT IT HELPS
An appropriate approach may help when visible muscle bands are the main concern. If you’re more concerned about loose skin, texture or a loss of definition under the jaw, another approach may be more relevant. There may also be more than one factor involved. We’ll explain which part of the appearance each option is intended to address, rather than suggest that one treatment will change everything about the neck.

FAQS
The neck muscle can become more visible with movement, while changes in the overlying skin can make bands easier to see. We’ll assess both because they can contribute in different ways.
No. You can have visible muscle bands without significant loose skin, loose skin without prominent bands, or a combination of the two. That distinction is important when discussing treatment options.
Of course. Many people notice changes in both areas and find it hard to separate them. We can look at the neck and lower face together while explaining which concern each option is aimed at.
If a prescription-only muscle-relaxing option is being considered, an appropriate prescriber must first assess whether it is suitable. Other concerns, such as skin laxity, may lead to a different discussion.
