Understanding acne scarring
The word “scarring” covers a lot. Some scars leave shallow dips, others are deeper, and flat marks after spots can be mistaken for scars even though they behave differently. That’s why we won’t recommend a course of treatment before properly looking at your skin.
We’ll explain what we find, what results are realistic and whether an option such as microneedling suits your type of scarring.

What are the causes?
Deeper acne can affect the skin as a spot heals, leaving a lasting change in its surface. Picking or squeezing can increase the risk of marks and scars. The final appearance depends on how the skin repaired itself, so both the shape and depth of the scar matter when we consider treatment. We’ll also ask whether you’re still experiencing breakouts.
